The red-tailed green bamboo silk is the most common and most numerous poisonous snake in Taiwan, and it is also called the red-tailed mackerel. Small and medium-sized snakes, venomous snakes belonging to the Viperidae family.

The whole body of the red-tailed green bamboo silk is grass green, emerald green or dark green. The end of the tail is brick red or dark red. The female snake has a thin white or yellowish-white longitudinal line on the ventral side. In addition to this white thin longitudinal line, the male snake has another brick-red thin line adjoining it on the lower edge. Between the nostrils and the eyes, there is a distinct head socket, which can feel heat to determine the target of the attack. The tail is short and can wrap around other objects.
