The Zhoushan cobra has been listed as provincial key protected animals in Anhui and Hainan, and all snake species have been listed as provincial protected animals in Shanghai, Hunan and Guizhou.

Zhoushan cobra has a wide range of food, mainly frogs, snakes, birds , followed by mice, but also eat lizards, loach, eel and other small fish. It was observed in Taiwan that this snake feeds on birds and rats, and also goes to the water to eat water snakes and loach.  [3]  It stings around May every year and enters hibernation in November.
