The black-ridged snake has been included in the List of Beneficial or Important Economic and Scientific Research Terrestrial Wildlife Protected by the State issued by the State Forestry Administration of China on August 1, 2000.

The black-ridged snake is a snake of the family Viperidae, a ridged snake genus of reptiles. Live in mountains, hills, caves. Eat earthworms. Mainly distributed in Shaanxi, Gansu, Yunnan, Guizhou,  Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Guangxi; abroad in Vietnam.
