The red-necked trout snake is a reptile of the genus Necked trout in the family Serpentidae, commonly known as pheasant, red-necked trout, and flat-neck. The body is medium in size, with a total length of about 77-95 cm.

Characteristics

The head and back of the red-necked snake are grass green, the upper lip scales are slightly lighter, and some scales Groove black, head and ventral surface dirty white. The trunk and the back of the tail are grass green, the skin between the scales in the neck area and the front part of the body is scarlet, and the trunk and the ventral surface of the tail are yellowish white. The head and neck are clearly distinguished, with two rows of scales juxtaposed in the middle of the back of the neck and anterior segment of the body. Individuals have no neck groove. The eyes are large and the pupils are round. There are 23-25 teeth on the upper mandible, the last two are suddenly enlarged, and there is a gap between the teeth in front of them.
