The North Pole Viper is a national protected animal

The North Pole Viper has been included in the Red List of Chinese Biodiversity - Vertebrate Volume - Endangered (EN). It has been listed in the List of Beneficial or Important Economic and Scientific Research Terrestrial Wild Animals under National Protection issued by the State Forestry Administration of China on August 1, 2000. It has been included in the fourth category of protected animals in the Interim Regulations on the Protection and Management of Wild Animals and Plants in Jilin Province promulgated and implemented by the Standing Committee of the Jilin Provincial People's Congress on March 3, 1985 .
