The back of the green snake is emerald green, the young snake is green, and the snout is longer , large eyes, round pupils, no cheek scales; preorbital scales 1, retroorbital scales 2; temporal scales 2(1)+3(2); upper lip scales 8, 2-3-3 or 3-2-3 ; Lower lip scales 10, the first 5 cut anterior jaw. Dorsal scales 19-19-15 rows; ventral scales with lateral edges, 200-227; anal scales bipartite; tail light brown, lower tail scales also with lateral edges, 120-149 pairs.
