The head of the mulberry snake is flat and large, with a distinct triangular shape, black head, red head scales, and high snout scales, which can be seen from the back. The back of the body is black with about 70 narrow red horizontal stripes.

Sanggen Snake has scattered black markings on both sides and dark brown markings on the outside of abdominal scales , the ventral surface is pale yellow or white. The tail is short and thin, sometimes gray-black below the tail. The mulberry snake is a neutral snake with a body length of more than 1.5 meters and a weight of about 1000 to 1250 grams, and the largest can reach 1500 grams.
