Black-ridged snakes are reptiles belonging to the genus Serpentidae and genus Ridges, with a slender body.

Characteristics

The black ridge snake has a cylindrical shape with a total length of about 0.5 meters. The black ridge snake has 6 upper lip scales and 5 lower lip scales. Black-ridged snakes have no preorbital and postorbital scales, but one supraorbital scale and one cheek scale. The dorsal scales of the black-ridged snake are 23 lines, ribbed, and the outermost line is smooth without or slightly ribbed. There are 146 to 173 abdominal scales in the black ridge snake. The back of the black-ridged snake's body is brown-black, with a striking black ridge line in the center of the back. The ventral surface of the black-ridged snake is lighter in color.
