The body is 320-710 mm long and the tail is 40-74 mm long. The tail is short, and the tail length is only about 1/12 of the body length. The ventral scales are narrow, less than 3 times as wide as the adjacent dorsal scales, which is the original characteristic of the scutellaria. The back is tan, the ventral surface is gray-white, and the scales all over the body shine with metallic luster.

The Snake Inhabits areas with an altitude of 400-1000m, living in caves and fields under the woods Where the soil is soft and littered, rotten wood, and under stones are the dwellings of the Slender Scale Snake. Go out at night to hunt for food, feeding on snakes, frogs, lizards, small rodents, birds and bird eggs.
