How to identify male and female black mountain turtles in Myanmar

2021-11-15 / 1025 Read

It is easier to distinguish male and female tortoises from males. The males have thick tails, anus beyond the end of the carapace, and brighter head markings. Female turtles have shorter tails and darker head markings. In addition, the V-shaped gap at the end of the plastron is smaller for male turtles and larger for female turtles. Breeding this rare turtle should be the ultimate goal of breeding to make up for the loss in nature.

How

Due to the scarcity of black turtles in Myanmar, so far there has been no successful breeding in China Record. Also in the wild, female turtles can produce 2-3 litters per year, with 2-4 eggs per littermate, which can hatch in about 60-70 days.
