The star terrapin hibernates. The star-spotted water turtle likes warmth and is afraid of cold, and is very sensitive to changes in the surrounding temperature. The suitable temperature is 25-30 °C. Activities below 18°C decrease, hibernation occurs below 15°C, and they often hibernate in underwater swamps in autumn instead of hibernating in burrows. Some are different. Below 8°C, there is a danger of freezing to death.

The star water turtle eats miscellaneous things, likes tender aquatic plants, small fish, shrimp, and earthworms , grasshoppers, crickets, snails, etc. Spotted tortoises have a timid temperament and can bask and forage on land. Artificial breeding can be fed fruits, vegetables, aquatic plants, insects, small fish and shrimp and compound feed.
