However, it is more difficult to distinguish between males and females in the hatchling stage, and it is relatively easy to distinguish males and females after adulthood. Body shape difference: There are differences in the body shape of male and female tortoises. Overall, the body shape of the male turtle will be longer, while the body of the female turtle will look rounder.

Tail difference: male and female yellow-fronted tortoise The difference between the tails of turtles is relatively large, and sometimes the male and female can be seen from the tail at a glance. In contrast, male turtles have longer and larger tails; female turtles have the opposite, shorter tails.

Distinction of cloacae: The relative positions of the cloacae of male and female tortoises are different. The cloaca of female turtles is relatively close to the edge of their plastron, while the cloaca of male turtles is relatively far from the plastron.

Mating position difference: If it is in the breeding season, you can see their mating position. If the mating position is at the bottom, it is the female turtle; the position at the top is the male tortoise.
