There is a soft outer membrane on the dorsal and plastron of the yellow sand turtle, surrounded by delicate skirts, the head, neck and limbs can be stretched, and each limb has five claws, and it crawls quickly.

Judging from the appearance and color, yellow sand soft-shelled turtles usually have dark green back and limbs. Some are light brown on the back and reddish on the belly. The tail of the female body generally does not reach the outer edge of the skirt, and the male body mostly sticks out of the skirt.
