How to distinguish male and female red-headed snake-necked turtles

There are many ways to identify males and females of the red-headed snake-necked turtle. For example, the female tortoise's cloaca is closer to the rear edge of the plastron, and the cloaca is located inside the plastron, and the hole is circular in shape. For male turtles, the cloaca is far from the rear edge of the plastron, the cloaca is located outside the plastron, and the hole is elongated.

NextThe plastron of the female turtle is flat with no depression in the center. The notch formed by the two anal shields of the plastron is shallow and the notch angle is large. For male turtles, the center of the plastron is slightly inward.
