The method of distinguishing male and female tortoises is as follows:
1. Look at the tail: Males have long tails and thick bases, forming an acute triangle. Females have short tails and a small, striped base.

2. Look at the cloaca: The cloaca of the male Dezhou jin-diamond turtle is empty on the tail, far from the rear edge of the plastron, and the hole is elongated. The female Texan chinensis has a cloaca on the tail, close to the rear edge of the plastron, and the hole is round.
3. Look at the plastron: The center of the plastron of the male Texas brocade tortoise is slightly concave inward. The center of the plastron of the female Texas brocade tortoise is flat without depression.
