During the colder seasons of winter and late autumn, yellow mud turtles hibernate in grass and leaf mounds. Shy in character, as long as it is not a threat. There will be no active attack.

By July, the yellow mud turtle will go into aestivation. And it is guarded near the ovary for aestivation until September. The small yellow mud turtle will hatch, but it is not in a hurry to climb to the land. Usually, it will not come to the land until the spring of the second year.
