The total length of the glans sea snake is 559-864 mm. Head and neck are difficult to distinguish, nostrils dorsal; body anterior segment cylindrical, posterior segment and caudal flat. There are 3 scales on the upper lip, the second is extra large; there are no internasal scales, and the nasal scales are tangent; 4 forehead scales are arranged horizontally, and the central 2 are very large; the frontal scales are hexagonal.

1 anterior orbital scale, 2 posterior orbital scales, and 2 temporal scales +3 pieces. The dorsal scales are smooth and imbricate, with 15-17 rows on the neck and 17-19 rows in the middle; 138-142 ventral scales, 2 anal scales, and 23-28 pairs of lower caudal scales. Dark chestnut on the back, dark brown ring spots from neck to tail, wider than ring spots; a yellowish-brown diagonal stripe from the anterior temporal scale to the corner of the mouth, a yellow arc-shaped spot on the front of the head and back, the snout and pharynx are light brown .
