The total length of the glans sea snake is 559-864 mm. Head and neck are difficult to distinguish, nostrils dorsal; body anterior segment cylindrical, posterior segment and caudal flat. There are 3 scales on the upper lip, the second is extra large; there are no internasal scales, and the nasal scales are tangent; 4 forehead scales are arranged horizontally, and the central 2 are very large; the frontal scales are hexagonal.

The back of the glans sea snake is dark maroon, with dark brown ring spots from the neck to the tail. The interval is wider than the ring spot; there is a yellow-brown diagonal stripe from the anterior temporal scale to the corner of the mouth, a yellow arc-shaped spot on the front of the back of the head, and the snout and pharynx are light brown.
