The Chinese small-headed snake has been included in the List of Beneficial or Important Economic and Scientific Research Terrestrial Wildlife Protected by the State issued by the State Forestry Administration of China on August 1, 2000.

The Chinese small-headed snake, commonly known as the scale snake, is a small-headed snake of the serpentidae family. It is non-venomous and eats the eggs of lizards and geckos. The body length is about half a meter, and it is distributed in mountains and plains, even close to dwellings. Produced in Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Henan, Hunan, Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan and other provinces.
