The red-bellied short-necked turtle is a kind of water turtle. If they are raised at home, they need to be raised in water and cannot be raised dry. The environment in which they grow cannot be particularly dry. However, the short-necked turtle is not a deep-water turtle, which means that they are not suitable for living in very deep water. Specifically, in different growth stages, their requirements for water level are also different.
The short-necked turtle is young During the turtle stage, it is more sensitive to the environment. Therefore, the water level at this time should not be too high, and shallow water should be used for raising. Generally speaking, it is enough to just cover their backs, and the water should not be too deep, otherwise they are prone to choking or drowning, and it is more difficult for them to swim to the surface. After they grow up, you can make the water a little deeper, but not too deep. It is okay to have twice the height of their backs or a little more than part of their back shells, but not too much.
