Ringed map turtles generally live more than 100 years. One of the biggest features of the ringed map turtle is the brightly colored ring on the carapace.

The ringed map turtle is distributed in western Mississippi and Lewis Southeast Ana. Ringed map turtles prefer wide, soft sandy beaches and clayy river bottoms, as well as riversides with lots of trees, bushes, driftwood, and rocks. During the day, the ringed map turtle likes to sunbathe; at night, the ringed map turtle will hide and sleep under the branches and driftwood near the river.
