How to distinguish male and female leopard tortoise

The male tortoise is larger than the female, so you can tell the male and female tortoises by their size. The largest existing female leopard tortoise raised by the turtle protection organization is 39cm in length and 14kg in weight. The largest recorded female leopard tortoise is 50cm in length and 20kg in weight.

The sexual maturity of leopard tortoise is in the natural state 12-15 years. The number of eggs in a clutch can be large, generally 5-15. But it is not surprising that some larger females can lay more than 30 eggs. Incubation is best done in a dry incubator at around 30-31 degrees Celsius, and most incubation times are usually between 130-150 days.
