The flat-backed musk turtle is a deep-water turtle, and wild individuals generally live in relatively deep water. However, the situation is different in artificial farming, and the water should not be too deep.

The water level can be adjusted after the flat-backed musk turtle becomes an adult. Adjust to 20-30 cm. Flat-backed musk turtles can't stay in deep water all the time, they need to be properly basked in the sun, and a sunning platform can be placed in the water, which makes it easier for them to climb over. During the hibernation of the flat-backed musk turtle, the water should not be too deep, and a relatively humid environment can be provided. Too high water level may cause harm to it.
