1. Body type. When the flat-backed musk turtle is relatively small, it is basically impossible to distinguish. For flat-backed musk turtles of the same age, the female turtles are relatively larger, and the male turtles are smaller.

2. The tail. The tails of the fair-backed musk turtles are thick, large, and relatively long; the tails of the female flat-backed musk turtles appear shorter.

3. Plastron: The plastron of the fair-backed musk turtle will have a relatively obvious depression in it, and if it is a female turtle, there will be no depression.
