Lashio terrapins are valuable, Lashio terrapins are animals belonging to the family of freshwater turtles. The carapace is brown-black, with three prominent ridges; the plastron is light yellow. Habitat in hilly and semi-mountainous mountain basins, rivers, rice fields and lakes and other waters. The species has been included in the List of Beneficial or Important Economic and Scientific Research Terrestrial Wild Animals Protected by the State issued by the State Forestry Administration on August 1, 2000.

Lashio terrapin are grass turtles and yellow-throated terrapins of hybrids. While it is not unusual for hybrids to become separate species, it is important to confirm that they are abundant, phenotypically distinct, and self-sustaining branching. They were confirmed as separate species when their colonies were discovered in Japan in 2006. Genetic studies have pinpointed their origin, but the timing is unknown, with some suggesting that the interbreeding occurred in prehistoric times, but others a closer time. The Lashio terrapin may be a hybrid of the yellow-throated terrapin and tortoise, and is generally regarded as a null species.
