How to distinguish male and female turtles

2021-05-30 / 724 Read

The male and female mountain tortoises are quite different in appearance. Most of the time, female turtles develop faster than male turtles and are much larger than turtles of the same age. The back curvature of the male turtle is larger than that of the female turtle. The back of the female turtle is relatively flat. Its function is to prevent the male turtle from falling off the back when breeding, and the picture can be supplemented by itself.

How

The plastron of female turtles is very flat, and the plastron of male turtles has obvious Sag, why is it so long? Still the same as the previous one, the depression on the belly of the male turtle is also for the convenience of not falling off when breeding.

For mountain turtles of the same age, male turtles have thick tails and female turtles have small tails. When the mountain tortoise is caught, the male tortoise will generally show his teeth and claws, and his tail will move around, while the female tortoise will tuck the tail tightly.

Pull the turtle's tail slightly, and look carefully at the male turtle's chrysanthemum, which is long and far from the plastron. The chrysanthemum of the female turtle is round, very close to the plastron.
