The red-faced egg tortoise in its origin generally does not hibernate, because even in winter, the water temperature is relatively high. However, red-faced egg turtles were later introduced to other countries and regions, and whether they hibernate in winter depends on the water temperature conditions in winter. For example, the red-faced egg turtles that live in the relatively northern parts of our country have relatively low water temperatures in winter, so they can enter a state of hibernation in winter.

However, the hibernation time is not certain, it may be on 11 month, possibly in December. The time when they end their hibernation is generally in March or April of the following year, and the specific time is also uncertain, depending on the water temperature conditions.

It is recommended not to let red-faced egg turtles hibernate, because they are very sensitive to the environment in the state of hibernation, and red-faced egg turtles are easy to die if they are not careful. Therefore, when breeding in winter, the water temperature can be adjusted to more than 20 degrees, and the red-faced egg turtle can survive the winter safely.
