The golden-headed box turtle likes to eat fish and shrimp, tadpoles, and various insects, especially dragonfly larvae. Under the feeding conditions, it can eat small fish, shrimp, snail meat, tadpoles, etc., and eat a small amount of plants. The feeding and activity period is from May to October every year, and the hibernation period is from November to April of the following year.

Although golden-headed box turtles are rare Turtles, but the breeding method is not difficult. Feeding should be based on fresh fish and shrimp. Stop feeding below 20°C. When raising golden-headed turtles, special attention should be paid to the maintenance of water quality, and the water should be changed in time. In autumn, when the temperature is lower than 15℃, move the turtle into an indoor container for overwintering, put water in the container, and keep the water depth at 4-10℃. Overwintering survival rate is generally up to 100%.
