When the colored turtle becomes an adult, the male turtle is thin and small, and the female turtle is round and large. For spotted turtles of the same age, females are always larger than males. The breeding age of the spotted turtle is generally 4 to 5 years old, while the artificially heated spotted turtle can reach 1000 grams at about 2 years old, but it does not have the ability to reproduce. The breeding season begins in May and lasts until August.

How

The turtles are oviparous animals and can lay eggs 4 times a year on average, once Up to 17 eggs can be laid, the number of which depends on their individual size. Before laying eggs, they will wait until early morning or evening. At that time, they will make a hole in the sand with a diameter of 8-10 cm and a depth of 10-12 cm. The laid eggs slide into the holes from the hind limbs, preventing them from falling straight and breaking the eggs.

The size of the colored turtle eggs is ellipsoid, generally weighing about 6 grams, and the color is white. They fill in the hole after ovulation, and the filled hole is slightly lower than the ground. The whole production process takes about 2 hours.
