Body covered with medium-sized scales, round, all arranged obliquely; lateral line rises sharply up to below the IX spine of the dorsal fin and descends below the terminal edge of the base of the dorsal fin. Single dorsal fin, spine XII, soft rays 20-21; anal fin spine III, soft rays 17-18. The body is pale yellow, the back is black, and the maximum body length is 15 cm.
