The maximum length of the rocket hanging in the aquarium can reach 13cm. The color of the rocket hanging juvenile is composed of yellow, blue and white. In adulthood, the color is fixed, the tail turns blue, and the dorsal and anal fins are golden-edged. There are small golden spots above the eyes and a golden circle just below them.

The rocket hanger is mild in nature and inhabits sheltered coastal coral reefs at a water depth of 3-45 meters waters, usually near coral-rich steep slopes. Most live alone or in small groups. Feeds mainly on silk algae and single-celled algae attached to gravel. Ferocious to other hangers, but friendly to other fish.
