The camouflage horn is a semi-oceanic fish species that feeds mainly on zooplankton, but also stays near coral reefs and preys on algae. Camouflage horns inhabit deeper lagoons and steep slopes of outer reefs up to 200 meters deep, but most live in deeper lagoons, usually singly or in large groups.

The body has dark green patches of different sizes and inconspicuous vertical fine lines, like a camouflage suit, hence the name camouflage horn hanging, the caudal fin is brown with dark blue spots, and the base of the bone plate is dark brown.
