Rockwell horns feed primarily on plankton. Rockwell horns live in waters above 6 meters deep on the steep slopes of outer reefs, and usually live alone or in groups. Distributed in the coral reef waters of the western Pacific Ocean, the distribution range includes the southern part of Honshu to the Great Barrier Reef and the waters of New Caledonia.
