The blue hanging can reproduce, generally in low temperature months, and the breeding time and location will continue to change every year. In the Pacific, the peak breeding season is from December to June. Breeding is possible year-round in places with little seasonal variation in water temperature.

During the months when the temperature is suitable, females lay eggs once a month. As many as 40,000 eggs were released into the water. After 25-28 hours of incubation of the fertilized eggs, the willow-shaped juveniles are born and develop rapidly, and then forage offshore in large numbers.
