The ruby fish is strong, has a large food intake, is easy to raise, does not have strict requirements on water quality, prefers neutral water, and can grow well in water temperatures above 20°C. Ruby fish do not choose food, like to eat animal bait.
The larvae after level-swimming use egg yolk as open bait, and after 5 days of incubation, the compound feed powder is gradually added to start tame food. The method of food habituation is: mix egg yolk and compound feed with water to form a paste, the weight ratio of egg yolk and feed powder is 3:1 on the first day, 2:1 on the second day, 1:1 on the third day, and 1:1 on the fourth day. 1:2, 1:3 on the fifth day, and all of them were fed with compound feed powder on the sixth day. After 20 days, all juveniles were cultivated.

Do not polyculture and it is not suitable for breeding in aquatic plants. This species has the habit of digging, which should be derived from the fact that it will dig the bottom sand in the original place to spread the food in the sand. Therefore, when raising this kind of fish, special bottom sand should be used, and great attention should be paid when planting aquatic plants to avoid that the planting density is too low and they will take advantage of the poor grass.
