The black skirt fish is relatively easy-going on feed requirements. All kinds of animal bait and artificial feed can be fed. It must be fed with water at the initial feeding, and gradually changed to other fish and insects.

Black skirt fish likes to swim and forage in the upper waters of the aquarium. Avoid bait that floats on the surface or sinks to the bottom of the tank. They generally do not eat water plants or other fish and shrimp in grass tanks.
