Hainan rabbit is the smallest and most colorful of Chinese wild rabbits, with a body length of less than 40 centimeters and a weight of 1.5 kilograms. Its tail hair is black on the top and white on the bottom, and the chin, belly and the back of the limbs are all white. The ear shells have distinct white edges, and the soles have dark brown hairs.

Hainan Rabbit is a solitary animal, mainly active at night, at dusk or dawn most active. It neither hibernates nor stings.
