The plateau pika is a small non-hibernating herbivorous mammal, also known as the black-lipped pika, belonging to the family Lagomorpha.
The plateau pika has a round body, no tail, the snout and nose are black, the back of the ears is dark brown, and the edges of the ear shells are pale. From the head and face through the neck, the back to the base of the tail, it is sandy yellow or yellowish brown, and the color becomes lighter to the sides to the ventral surface.

The plateau pika is very strange, some are monogamous, some are polygamous , There are also a few polygamy, the three phenomena coexist, the plateau pika can make six different sounds, and the adult plateau pika makes a long and rapid huh sound during courtship and mating.
