The Mongolian rabbit has a larger body and a longer tail. The tail length accounts for about 80% of the length of the hind foot. It is the longest species of domestic hare. There is a long and wide black spot in the center of the tail back. The belly of the tail is pure white, up to the base of the tail.

Mongolian rabbits are active day and night, but most active at dusk. Feeds on grass, saplings, twigs, bark, and various crops, vegetables and seeds.
