Tibetan pikas are medium in size, with short and round ears, slender claws, and a very short tail. The base of the dorsal hair is dark gray, the upper part is light yellow, and the tips are dark brown. The ventral surface of the body is gray-brown, the base of the hair is gray, and the tip of the hair is light brown.

Tibetan pikas are active day and night, move agile, and go out to find food in rainy days. It feeds on the stems and leaves of sedges and grasses, and starts breeding in May every year, with 3-5 offspring per litter.
