The voles are generally tan, brownish-gray, and occasionally gray-yellow and sandy-yellow; the voles are usually no more than 150mm long and have a short tail. Usually 1/3 or 1/4 of the body length. The soles of the hind feet of the voles are only covered with hair near the heels, and the rest are bare, and the pads are clearly visible. The size and shape of the voles' skulls vary with species, and the center of the posterior border of the palatine bone is connected to the pterygoid process.

The voles are more fluffy. The snout is short and blunt, and the ear shells are short. Feet and limbs are short, no cheek pouches. The voles have thick and solid skulls, and the molars are generally divided into many lobes.
