The coat color of rock vole varies greatly, ranging from grayish yellow, sandy yellow, tan, and brownish gray. The body length of rock vole is mostly no more than 150mm, the tail is very short, the ear shell is normal, the hind foot is only covered with hair near the heel, and the rest is bare, and the foot pad is clearly visible.

The rock vole's coat is very fluffy. The snout is short and blunt. Feet and limbs are short, no cheek pouches. The skull is thick and solid. Likes to live in camps and underground, feeding on plants.
