The back hair of the voles is light gray-brown or light yellow-brown, the base of the hair is dark gray, the proximal end of the hair is light gray and apricot yellow, and the tip of the hair is dark brown. The voles are smaller, with shorter tails and ears.

The voles are active day and night, good at digging, and are sensitive to the various plants in their habitats They do not refuse to feed. They give birth to at least 3 litters each year, with 2 to 9 litters per litter, and most of them are 5 to 6 litters. They inhabit mountain grasslands, shrub grasslands and grasslands near farmland at altitudes below 2480m.
