The head and back of the Siberian chipmunk are light brown to dark tan, and there are five distinct black longitudinal stripes on the back, which are separated by four pale yellow stripes. The middle strip is black and extends from the top of the head to the base of the tail. The outer two are dark brown and the outer two are white, both starting from the shoulders and ending at the buttocks.

The tail of the Siberian chipmunk is dark brown on the upper part and orange on the lower part Yellow, the ear shells are dark brown, and the edges are white. The back hair is tawny, the rump hair is orange, khaki or brown, and the limbs are the same color as the back of the body. The chest, ventral surface and the inside of the limbs are grayish white or white, and the center of the tail and ventral surface is brownish yellow.
