The back of the three-line hamster is gray-brown from the snout to the rear of the body, the base of the dorsal hair is dark gray, the ends are brown, and the tips are brown-black. The ventral surface of the body is gray-white from the chin, throat to the chest and abdomen. The base of the hair is dark gray, and the tip of the hair is dirty white.

There is a clear boundary between the dorsal and ventral hairs of the three-line hamster, forming 3 a large ripple. The gray-white hairs on the ventral side protrude into the dorsal side, forming three continuous gray-white spots at the base, and there are also small gray-white spots on each side of the tail base. A wavy brown-yellow boundary was formed at the junction of the upper edge of each plaque and the dorsal hair. The back of the tail is gray-brown, and the end is dirty white and the same as the ventral surface.
