The Mexican vole is usually no more than 150mm long and has a short tail. Usually 1/3 or 1/4 of the body length. The ear shells are normal. The soles of the hind feet are only covered with hair near the heels, the rest are bare, and the pads are clearly visible. The coat is much fluffy. The snout is short and blunt, and the ear shells are short. Feet and limbs are short, no cheek pouches. The skull is thick and solid.
