General flying squirrels are about 25 centimeters long, and their tails are almost as long as their bodies. When it does not open the flying membrane, it looks like a squirrel, with gray-brown or yellow-brown dorsal hair, gray-white ventral surface, and orange-red dorsal hair on its four legs.

The flying squirrel has a wide head, large eyes, well-developed auricles, and a wide and Hairy flying membranes, through which it glides, and hind legs slightly longer than forelimbs. Most are medium in size.
