[Original] Extremely rare Himalayan white-headed snake, life is so difficult

2022-03-09 / 1071 Read

Speaking of the Himalayan white-headed snake, many of my friends must have never heard of it. This is normal as it is extremely rare worldwide. In my country, its traces can only be found in southeastern Tibet, and within this century, only dozens of specimens of Himalayan white-headed snakes have been seen in China.

Extremely

Not only are the Himalayan white-headed snakes rare, their severe toxicity and eccentric temperament also make it difficult for us to pass the incense through artificial breeding. So where exactly is the difficulty? Don't worry, let's start with their current situation.

First, the number is scarce

Although it is less than one meter long, generally only about 60-80 cm, and is very slender, the pattern on its body is very unique. The entire back is mainly dark brown, with some vermilion horizontal spots in between, and a black circle around the spots. These horizontal spots are alternately long and short, and are dotted sporadically, which is very beautiful.

Combined with its white head, it can form a strong sense of contrast, which can be recognized at a glance from a distance, which is its uniqueness.

Second, neurotoxins

There are generally four types of snake venoms: blood circulation toxins, neurotoxins, mixed toxins and cytotoxins. Although the venom of the Himalayan white-headed snake does not make it into the TOP10, it is a relatively rare neurotoxin.

After being bitten by it, the local symptoms are not obvious at the beginning, so many people will be paralyzed. However, after a few hours, the injury deteriorated suddenly, and the patient may even experience generalized tremors, convulsions, muscle paralysis, etc., and even death in severe cases. It can be seen that the damage of neurotoxins is difficult to quantify, because it is easy to miss the best treatment period!

3. Weird temperament

Since the number of Himalayan white-headed snakes is so small, have people not intervened or helped them? of course not.

It is reported that some countries in Europe and the United States have imported Himalayan white-headed snakes many times. As a result, due to the low altitude and high temperature, their internal organs were damaged and they went on hunger strike. It didn't take long for them to be annihilated...because they like to inhabit the mountains at an altitude of about 1,000 meters, and their preferred temperature is about 20-25 degrees, otherwise, their bodies will feel uncomfortable.

But even if such environmental conditions are met, some domestic breeders still say that this kind of snake is very easy to die suddenly. . What's more, they raise artificially cultivated varieties...

All in all, the Himalayan white-headed snake is a very delicate snake because it is really rare. I very much hope that their population can continue well!
