Hainan snake scale snake is a unique species in my country. Its wild population is extremely rare. The number of known wild populations is about 1,500. The flash-scale snake is also called the sun snake or the pearly snake. When it creeps along the ground, the scales glow like steel blue, bright green, blood red, copper and other gorgeous pearls, so it is called the flash-scale snake.

III. Habits

1. Habitat: The Hainan Scale Snake likes to hide under grass and dead leaves. It inhabits plains, hills and low mountains at an altitude of 200 to 800 meters.

2. Feeding habits: The hainan flash-scale snake feeds on small rodents or insectivores.

This species has been listed in the National Protection of Beneficial or Important Economic and Scientific Inventory of Terrestrial Wildlife of Research Value.

Included in the 2013 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species ver3.1 - Endangered (EN) .

Included in the China Biodiversity Red List - Vertebrate Volume, and the assessment level is endangered (EN) .
