II. Appearance characteristics
The total length of the helmeted snake is about 60-90 cm; its body surface is black with irregular yellow markings.
III. Distribution range
The helmeted snake is mainly distributed in the Sydney Basin of New South Wales, Australia.
4. Habitat
The habitat of the helmeted snake varies according to its temperature, age, sex and reproductive status. In the cold season, they will perch between the cliffs and rocks to keep warm from the sun; when the temperature rises, they will go to the woodland and perch in hollow trees; young snakes and pregnant female snakes will perch in cooler and sheltered places rocky terrain.
V. Diet
The helmeted snake mainly eats some small frogs, reptiles and mammals.
VI. Reproduction
The reproduction method of the helmeted snake is ovoviviparous, and the female snake's reproduction period is from autumn to spring every year. Eggs are laid once every two years, with 8-12 eggs at a time.
Ps: It takes 5 years for male snakes to reach sexual maturity and 6 years for female snakes.
VII. Racial status
The helmeted snake was listed in the Appendix of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora on September 13, 2007 .
